AV Laws in Three States Take Effect on Jan 1
Age-verification laws in Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee will go into effect on January 1, 2025. Following a legal challenge by the Free Speech Coalition, a United States District Court has blocked the Tennessee Attorney General from enforcing the law. However, private civil lawsuits and actions by individual district attorneys remain a potential threat.
Platforms accessible in the states of Florida, South Carolina and Tennessee should be aware of the risks and consult their legal counsel if they have questions.
The text of the laws:
HB3 (Florida)
