Legislative Update: 4.10.23

Age Verification Bills

  • Mississippi’s bill was signed by the governor and will go into effect July 1st.

  • The Arkansas bill was sent to the governor to sign. It is expected to go into effect on July 31st.

  • Arizona’s bill passed both legislative chambers, meaning the next step is to send it to their governor. It’s expected to go into effect on July 30th.

But there was some good news! Both Kentucky and South Dakota ended their 2023 legislative sessions before their bills could pass and California’s bill has been ice-boxed until next year.

Banking Fairness Bills

Maine introduced a new banking fairness bill last week that’s been referred to the committee on Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services. Unfortunately, no other banking fairness bills had any updates since our last legislative update.
