Talk to a Crisis Counselor
Calling or texting a crisis hotline gives you access to a range of free services.
What are the benefits?
Get immediate help, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Confidential support from a trained staff member or volunteer.
Someone to help you talk through what happened.
Referrals to local resources that can assist with your next steps toward healing and recovery.
What are the potential risks?
If you aren’t ready to talk to someone about your experience, this option may not be for you yet.
Very few counselors understand sex work or its related issues. It is important to find a counselor who will not stigmatize or shame you for your work, and who will not assume that sex work itself is your primary problem.
Similarly, some counselors are unfortunately not educated on issues of race. It is important to find a counselor who will not discriminate against you and will support you in the ways you need to be supported.
If you do not feel comfortable speaking with the person you are connected to, ask to speak to another staff member or hang up and call again. You will be connected to another person who could be a better fit.
